Modern Warfare 3 vs Battlefield 3

OK so I wasn’t really into gaming.. I used the past tense because about a year or so ago a buddy (Jason from RoR actually) introduced me to Call of Duty. At that time Black Ops clips were generating a ton of buzz and he was dieing for the release of the game. I didn’t get it, but whatever I’ll give it a go.. I don’t have any first hand knowledge of smoking crack, but if what I hear is true then this COD was the closest thing to crack I’ve ever come across. I was completely hooked. So in the past year I’ve finished all of the COD campaigns from 3 on up to Black Ops. Done the online thing as well. And then I found Battlefield.. Bad Company and Bad Company 2. For me.. those were even worse. I thought the story telling, the game play was unbelievably good.. And presto blamo gamer boy is born… or more like fat old hippy gamer dude. So I’ve been keeping tabs on the development of the upcoming entries of these series and we got an awesome sneak peak at them yesterday at E3. First off the Modern Warfare sneak peak:

Wow…. that’s the only thing I can think. OK maybe not the only thing.. I’m a bit of a blow hard after all. Call of Duty has always for me anyway, been more of a social game. I like, no actually love the campaigns but the best moments for me came while playing co-op mode in World at War, or Special Ops in MW2. It’s just a fun game to play with your buddies. Battlefield has no local co-op, but I found the story and game play better. I think it was because of the added realism of being able to destroy objects and how that affected game play. Asshole hiding behind a wall.. No problem, we’ll take out that wall. But I couldn’t sit around in front of my tv and play it with my buddies there. That will continue by the sounds of it. But… both companies are moving deeper into online play. COD with COD Elite.. You’ve seen the trailer for that right? Oh shit, you GOTTA see that (and sign up for the beta here):

And EA and Battlefield with their own social networking type add on (though very few details of that have been revealed). And that my friends might be the new crack, the social aspect of it. Being able to get friends together to play this in tournaments and then make videos of your conquests.. Or create squads and clans.. Ugh crack 2.0.. If only I could get my friends to agree on one platform… Or even better.. If these companies could finally get their shit together and realize there’s money to be made for all of them if they just started releasing cross platform games. Of course it’s probably a good thing that they don’t. I’m sure that’ll save many of us from the divorce lawyer Sooooo anyone else here into this shit? What are your thoughts

Nintendo Wii U

Soooo Nintendo introduced their successor to the Wii today called the Wii U… Which is probably an unfortunate name choice because all I can think of is Pee U… Then again I’m an 8 year old in a fat old mans body so that shouldn’t surprise anyone… I have to admit I like the concept of the screen in the controller, but I’m not sold on the execution. That being said they’re definitely not just going after the casual gamer anymore and looks like they’re going to try to get the hardcore crowd as well. Graphics look great on it so far.. they had the head of EA up on stage and Battlefront was like the first thing out of his mouth… which could be cool with that controller… Wait lemme show you what I’m talking about… video of the graphics coming out of the thing first

OK so these pix got leaked this morning supposedly of Blake Lively… they look like her to me but I could be wrong and there was a statement by her publicist this morning that went a little bit like this (ok actually a lot like this):

“The photos of Blake Lively which have just surfaced on various websites including Perez Hilton and Zap2it.com are 100 percent FAKE. Blake has never taken nude photos of herself. Blake will pursue legal action against the publication which initially published these photographs and any other outlets that republish them in any manner.”

I was going along with it until the the “pursue legal action” part… Now I’m no lawyer or anything, but if they’re not of her how on earth could you threaten legal action?? You guys draw your own conclusions..
